Tourism WA for the 21st

Tourism WA has launched two new digital tools to help prospective tourists plan their next trip to the State and enjoy it to the full once they are there.
Tourists and social media uses can now download the Explore WA iphone application and access the Western Australia Youtube channel online.
The Explore WA app for iphone gives users the latest information to help you decide where to go and what to do when visiting Australia’s largest and most extraordinary state. Visitors can navigate their way around the state through an interactive map or browse the ‘best of WA’ feature for inspiration. With in-depth destination information, videos and image galleries you can plan itineraries, search for hotels and restaurants, browse local festivals, and share suggestions with friends and family by email, facebook or twitter.
The Explore WA application is an important part of Tourism WA’s social media marketing mix, alongside its channel on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the Tourism WA YouTube channel was a perfect tool for sharing footage of Western Australia’s extraordinary destinations and experiences which hopefully would inspire viewers to visit the State.
The channel features videos of real people having extraordinary experiences in WA and has already proved popular, having drawn more than 23,400 visitors and more than 1,500 video views in its first four weeks.
“Digital marketing is an essential component of any successful tourism campaign,” Dr Hames said.
“The tourism industry, in particular, utilises digital marketing to raise awareness of our State as a holiday destination and in assisting consumers to research and plan their holidays.”
