Opportunities discussed at OMC, Ravenna, Italy

The Agent General for Western Australia, Mrs Kerry Sanderson visited Offshore Mediterranean Exhibition & Conference (OMC) Ravenna, Italy in late March.  OMC is the biggest event of its kind for the oil and gas industry in the Mediterranean and 2011 was the 10th edition of the conference. OMC 2011 brought together hundreds of companies and organisations from all over the world, with more than 8,960 oil and gas professionals attending from Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East. This year’s OMC was attended by 10,483 participants, from 38 nations worldwide and 469 exhibiting companies from 25 countries. The OMC’s stated role with in the Mediterranean region “is to disseminate offshore science and technical knowledge, to promote and support education for offshore, engineers and technicians and advance the development of tools and procedures required to explore, study, and further the responsible and sustainable use of the energy resources,”

During the visit the Agent General met with significant parties interested in a broad range of resource-related inward investment opportunities in WA. Ravenna is located near Bologna at the Adriatic coast and is considered as one of the important locations for industrial activities within Italy.
