Western Australian born guitarist Craig Ogden’s 2010 Classic FM chart-topping album, 'The Guitarist', continues its extraordinary success with a nomination for the prestigious Classic BRIT 2011, Album of the Year Award. The award features extremely stiff competition from the core crossover market and has never before been won by an Australian or a solo instrumentalist.

The album contains Craig's beautiful and unique interpretations of much-loved piano pieces including Clair de Lune and Moonlight Sonata, as well as a number of brand new compositions. Classic FM have also dubbed the new album “summer in a CD.”

Craig said, “I was hugely excited to be shortlisted for the Classic Brit 2011 Album of the Year Award. To make the transition from watching the Classic Brits on television to being there will be amazing. As no Australian has ever won the award before, I am really hoping that all Australians will get behind this and vote. I had a fantastic musical education in Western Australia and winning this award would be testament to all the wonderful opportunities and experiences I had in Perth as a child and young adult”.

To win this award would constitute extraordinary recognition for Craig Ogden who has been carving out his career over the last 15 years as well as being a great milestone for all Australians. This is is a real chance to put Australian classical musicians on the map.

Listeners to the UK radio station have previously voted tracks from the nominated album into the ‘Classic FM Hall of Fame’; a countdown of most loved tracks from the stations playlist.
