WA take the lead at the Global Petroleum Show

Approximately 60, 000 people attended the Global Petroleum Show held in Calgary, Canada in early June where they had the opportunity to network with 2,000 exhibiting companies from the industry. Stuart Russell, Senior Trade and Investment Manager, attended from the European office and presented a paper to 35 Calgary-based oil and gas service and support companies at a briefing organised by Austrade Canada and the Calgary Economic Development unit.
The aim of the visit to Calgary was to promote Canadian company participation in a business mission to Perth, to coincide with the October 2010 meeting of the World Energy Cities Partnership, (WECP). Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi is Chairman of the WECP organisation of which Calgary is a member, along with various other energy-centric cities such as Houston, Aberdeen and Stavanger.
In addition to the briefing, Stuart met with a number of companies and attended a breakfast presentation by the UK Trade and Investment agency on carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies and developments. CCS is an issue of special interest given developments in Australia, particularly those relating to the Gorgon LNG Project in WA.
