WA scoops 13 Gold at International Wine Challenge

More than a dozen Western Australian wines have taken out gold medals at the 2011 International Wine Challenge. 13 Western Australian wines were awarded the top prize from a field of more than 10,000 entrants. The judging panel made up of some of the world’s best ‘noses’ finalised the results in London earlier this month. To receive a gold medal, the wines must score between 95-and 100 points as awarded by the judges. Agent General Kerry Sanderson AO said the fact that Western Australian wines made another strong showing at the awards was down to the hard work of local wineries.

“It’s no surprise to see so many WA wines featured in the gold medal list again this year. Western Australian wines are frequently judged as being among some of the best in the world,” she said.
