WA designer showcased in London
Innovative Western Australian jewellery designer/maker, Felicity Peters, will be holding a solo exhibition of her designs in London early next year.
The exhibition will include a ring that she designed as a personal homage to the Jews and to the Polish people who died during the Second World War.
She created 51 chairs from sterling silver and one chair made in 18ct gold. There are six figures standing or sitting on the chairs, and when looking at the ring from various sides it is like looking into a cave, a mirror, or an architectural statement.
The letters L E S T W E are situated on some of the chairs, in sterling silver, and the letters F O R G E T are made in 18ct gold and also scattered around the chairs. There are a number of Star’s of David made in various ways, again scattered around the chairs.
A recognisable feature of Felicity’s work is the Korean technique of Keum Boo – the fusing of pure gold sheet to sterling silver. Influences of Felicity’s work are the landscape, travel, architecture, Etruscan history and personal philosophies.
The Lest We Forget ring, along with her other designs, will be on display at the Lesley Craze Gallery, London, on February 4, 2010.
