Harrods window display and one of Ruth Tarvydas spectacular creations

Perth-based designer Ruth Tarvydas made a splash on the London fashion scene when her extravagant fashions were featured in window displays at the iconic Harrods department store in London. Tarvydas’ fashions have been seen on film stars, pop stars and prominent personalities all over the world.

Ms Tarvydas said, “We had no idea that we had even been featured until our UK agent sent us photos, she had walked past by accident and spotted our dresses! We were thrilled!”

As a direct result of the exposure in the prestigious Harrods windows, dresses from the collection have been brought by music and television producer and personality Simon Cowell for his fiancé. Cowell also requested a look-book of the collection as a guide for guests at his wedding.

A selection from the Tarvydas range has been stocked in the Oxford Street department store Selfridges since 1983 and Harrods since November, 2009 and the new collection will be in the Harrods store very soon. Tarvydas will also soon be opening stores in London, New York and the Middle East

Tarvydas isn’t the only designer making mark on the London scene. Designs from the collection from West Australian and London based team ANT!PODiUM have also been snapped up by celebrity stylists. ANT!PODiUM held catwalk shows at London Fashion Week this year and their current autumn/winter collection takes it’s inspiration from indigenous Australian culture. Designers Geoffrey J Finch and Fenella Peacock collaborated with Aboriginal artists from Yamiji region near Geraldton, WA.
