Agent General Mrs Kerry Sanderson AO spoke at the 7th Annual Global Finance Conference in Geneva. Mrs Sanderson’s address to the large conference audience was entitled, ‘Opening our eyes to Oz: Australia as a gateway to the Asian-Pacific market’ was well received.

It was a good opportunity to show the importance of Western Australia, as well as Australia, on the world stage. Australia being the world’s largest exporter of commodities such as alumina and iron ore and much of that wealth to be found in WA, it has an impressive share of world production of a number of important commodities.

For iron ore the growth attributed to China was the subject of particular emphasis and contributed to the overall Conference discussion about China’s strength in the market.
