Business Forum Opportunities

The Agent General Kerry Sanderson AO is encouraging business leaders from across Europe to attend the Commonwealth Business Forum to be held in Perth in October.
The three day event will take place in the days leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October. The forum will commence on Tuesday 25th of October and run until the 27th.
The theme of the forum is “Partnering for Global Growth: The Commonwealth, Indian Ocean and the Pacific Rim”.
Confirmed speakers include 2004 Nobel Prize winner in Economics and former fellow of the Brookings Institution Professor Edward Prescott and the Honourable Kamla Persad‐Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
International business leaders and CEO’s from major international companies including HSBC, Goldman Sachs, Rio Tinto, Woodside, Wesfarmers, BP and AMEC will also speak at the event.
Mrs Sanderson said the event is a great opportunity for international leaders to come together and forge stronger business relationships.
“Perth continues to experience strong economic growth, it is on the important Indian Ocean Rim and in the same time zone as countries such as China and Singapore, making it a strategic location for the Forum,” she said.
She said attendees at the event don’t have to be members of the Commonwealth to attend and take part in the forum.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to look at potential investment or businesses across the Commonwealth.”
It’s expected that each of the 54 Commonwealth nations will be represented at CHOGM.
The total population of those 54 nations makes up almost 30 percent of the global population. Between them, Commonwealth nations contribute a fifth of the world’s global trade.
