There are many specialist courses to choose from at Perth colleges, which provide qualifications recognised by industries all over the world. Students can commence studies at a college four times a year, usually in February, April, July and October.

Perth colleges offer a great variety of practical courses across many disciplines including acupuncture, hospitality and hotel Management, bricklaying and plastering, veterinary nursing and fashion design. There are also Communications, Marketing and Business Diplomas offered at colleges in Perth.

The comprehensive list of all of Perth colleges and more can be found on the Perth Education City website.

All courses meet specific needs of industries and employers and many are primarily vocational, run in a real work environment, e.g. bricklaying, horticulture, furniture design or patisserie. Lecturers are industry trained and experienced and students are exposed to the industry via practicum from early stages of courses.

The most popular among European students are Diplomas and they take from 18 months to two years and Advanced Diplomas from two to two and a half years.

Certificate IV normally takes one year to complete.

College as a pathway to University

All Perth colleges are affiliated with universities in Perth and provide bridging courses. Students wanting to continue their education after completion of a Certificate or a Diploma can enter into a first or second year of undergraduate degree at a university affiliated with their college.

Students not wanting to continue with their education at a university are granted with a Certificate or a Diploma from a college, with a qualification and language experience in their area of study.

Some colleges run their programs on university campus, which allows international students to fully experience University life with access to libraries, computer centres, sport and recreation and sometimes the same lecture theatres as university students.
